Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 (16 oz) can tomatoes in tomato puree
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans drained
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp Tabasco
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet.
  2. Add ground beef, sliced onion, and minced garlic; brown for about 5 minutes.
  3. Drain off excess fat.
  4. Stir in tomatoes with tomato puree, drained kidney beans, cumin, salt, oregano, Tabasco, and bay leaf.
  5. Spoon the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish.
  6. Cover the dish with a lid or foil.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until heated through.
  9. Optionally, add grated cheese on top and let it melt and brown before serving.
