- Coat the cubed stewing beef with flour, salt, and pepper.
- Brown the beef in oil over medium heat.
- Drain the excess fat from the beef.
- Drain and reserve the liquid from the canned potatoes, carrots, and green beans.
- Add water to the reserved liquids to make 2 cups.
- Add the beef to the mixture.
- Stir in the tomato sauce with onions and thyme.
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
- Add the drained vegetables and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
