A hearty layered skillet dish combining bacon, ground beef, and vegetables, simmered in tomato sauce for a satisfying family meal full of savory flavors.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • 4 to 6 medium onions
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 4 to 6 medium carrots
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 (10 oz) can tomato sauce
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Cut the bacon into one-inch pieces and place in the bottom of a skillet or Dutch oven.
  2. Make four ground beef patties and place them on top of the bacon.
  3. Sprinkle the beef patties with salt and pepper.
  4. Layer sliced onions, potatoes, and carrots over the beef, sprinkling each layer with salt and pepper.
  5. Place green pepper on top of the layered vegetables.
  6. Place the skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat and cook for 3 minutes, until the bacon begins to sizzle.
  7. Add the can of tomato sauce over the layered ingredients.
  8. Cover and turn the heat to low, then simmer for 35 to 40 minutes.
