Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 1 medium cabbage, coarsely chopped
  • 4 medium tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 small green pepper, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crisp. Drain on absorbent paper towels and crumble.
  2. Saute onions in 3 tablespoons of bacon drippings until tender.
  3. Combine onion, cabbage, tomatoes, green pepper, salt, and pepper in a Dutch oven.
  4. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 15 minutes or until crisp-tender, without adding water.
  5. Add soy sauce, stirring until blended.
  6. Stir crumbled bacon into the cabbage mixture before serving.
