Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. short ribs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 can tomato sauce or 1 bottle tomato catsup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. minced onions
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke (if desired)

Instructions

  1. Salt and pepper the short ribs.
  2. Place the ribs in a Dutch oven.
  3. In a small pan, combine tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, minced onions, and liquid smoke if desired.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour the sauce over the short ribs in the Dutch oven.
  6. Cover and bake at 275°F for 4 hours or until the ribs are tender.
  7. Spoon off excess fat before serving.
