Ingredients

  • 6 slices firm white bread
  • 3/4 cup green onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 pound frankfurters
  • 1/2 pound shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • dusting of paprika
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Remove crust from bread and cut into 1-inch squares.
  2. Thinly slice frankfurters on the diagonal.
  3. Arrange half of the bread cubes in a well-buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  4. Layer half of the frankfurters, green onions, and shredded Cheddar cheese over the bread.
  5. Repeat the layers with remaining bread, frankfurters, onions, and cheese.
  6. In a bowl, beat together eggs, milk, dry mustard, garlic salt, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered bread, cheese, and frankfurters.
  8. Dust the top with paprika.
  9. Add more milk if the mixture does not cover the ingredients.
  10. Cover and chill overnight before baking.
