Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (10 oz) jar preserves (any flavor)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and baking soda in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup of the mixture.
  3. Press the remaining flour mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.
  4. Spread preserves evenly over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the reserved flour mixture over the preserves.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden.
  7. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  8. Cut into bars and serve.
