Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 can ready mix pie fruit

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and sugar with an electric mixer.
  2. Add egg and vanilla, mixing well.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, mixing after each addition.
  5. Pat the dough into a well-greased and lightly floured 10 x 10-inch pan.
  6. Spread the ready mix pie fruit evenly over the top of the dough.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
