Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening (half butter and half Crisco)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup raisins and chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • a dash of nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • a dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a baking sheet.
  3. Bake at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
