Rich, fudgy chocolate treat with walnuts and optional raisins or coconut, perfect for satisfying sweet cravings and sharing with friends or family.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 cup coconut (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, salt, and cocoa in a large heavy saucepan.
  2. Add milk and mix well.
  3. Cook over medium heat until a soft ball forms when a little is dropped in cold water.
  4. Remove from heat and drop in margarine. Do not stir.
  5. Cool until you can hold your hand on the bottom of the pan.
  6. Stir until vanilla and margarine are mixed in and the fudge loses its shine.
  7. Add nuts.
  8. Mix and pour into a buttered pan.
  9. Cut into squares.
  10. Let cool and break apart.
