Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa in a bowl.
  2. Add the milk, vanilla, and melted butter; beat until smooth.
  3. Stir in the chopped walnuts and spread the batter in a buttered 6-cup casserole dish.
  4. Sprinkle the mixture of brown sugar and cocoa evenly over the batter.
  5. Pour 1 1/2 cups boiling water over the top.
  6. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 50 minutes.
  7. Do not attempt to turn out this cake after baking.
  8. The bottom will be full of fudge sauce when served.
  9. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
