Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1 tablespoon melted oleo
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Coat a 9-inch square pan with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1/3 cup cocoa powder.
  3. In a measuring cup, mix skim milk, melted oleo, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder.
  7. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the batter.
  8. Pour boiling water evenly over the top without stirring.
  9. Bake for 35 minutes, until tested done in the center.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.
