Ingredients

  • 1 lb. boneless round steak
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3 cups hot cooked noodles

Instructions

  1. Cut beef into 2-inch strips with the grain.
  2. Cut strips diagonally across the grain into 1/4-inch slices.
  3. Freeze the beef for 1 1/2 hours to ease in cutting.
  4. Heat margarine in a 10-inch skillet until melted.
  5. Add chopped onion, finely chopped garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet.
  6. Cook and stir over medium-high heat until the onion is tender.
  7. Stir in the beef strips and bell pepper strips.
  8. Cook and stir about 4 minutes or until the beef is no longer pink.
  9. Stir in the dry red wine.
  10. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  11. Stir cornstarch into the beef broth until dissolved.
  12. Stir the beef broth mixture into the beef and pepper mixture.
  13. Cook and stir until the sauce thickens.
  14. Serve over hot cooked noodles.
