Ingredients

  • 1 stick soft margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 can cherry pie filling or other fruit filling
  • 1 pint whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Cream the soft margarine.
  2. Add sugar and beat until well combined.
  3. Mix in egg, vanilla, and milk until smooth.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well.
  6. Pour batter into a prepared baking dish.
  7. Spread cherry pie filling or other fruit filling evenly on top.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (baking time not specified).
  9. Whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  10. Serve the cake with a dollop of whipped cream.
