German White Fruit Cake
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour ⓘ
- 2 tsp. baking powder ⓘ
- 1 tsp. cinnamon ⓘ
- 1 tsp. cloves ⓘ
- 1 tsp. nutmeg ⓘ
- 1 tsp. allspice ⓘ
- 1 tsp. baking soda ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk ⓘ
- 1/2 pound butter or margarine ⓘ
- 2 cups sugar ⓘ
- 6 eggs ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cup chopped nuts ⓘ
- 1 pound candied cherries ⓘ
- 1 cup crushed pineapple (drained)
- 1 quart apricot preserves ⓘ
- 1/2 pound raisins (if desired) ⓘ
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Add soda to buttermilk, then combine alternately with the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix well.
- Add remaining ingredients.
