Ginger Sparkles are delightful, spicy-sweet cookies with warm ginger and cinnamon flavors, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy afternoons with a cup of tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. molasses

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and molasses.
  2. Mix flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.
  4. Form into small balls and roll in granulated sugar.
  5. Place on greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
  7. Remove to a rack to cool.
  8. Store in airtight container or freeze.
