Ginger Sticks
Crisp, spicy ginger sticks with a hint of cinnamon and cloves, perfect for snacking or gifting during the holidays, offering a delightful crunch and warm flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons ground ginger ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks butter, softened ⓘ
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar ⓘ
- 1/4 cup molasses ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons crystallized ginger, finely chopped ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons coarse decorating sugar ⓘ
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with foil and spray with cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, ground ginger, cinnamon, white pepper, ground cloves, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Add brown sugar and molasses to the butter, beating until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating until smooth.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Sprinkle the finely chopped crystallized ginger over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with coarse decorating sugar, and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
- Cool in the pan. Once cooled, cut into thirds lengthwise, then crosswise into 12 one-inch strips.
