Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in lemon juice and spices for a few hours before cooking. If you don't have allspice, a combination of cinnamon and nutmeg can work as a substitute. Fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro can enhance the dish further. When using canned mushrooms, rinse them well to reduce excess sodium.

Serving Suggestions

This flavorful dish pairs beautifully with rice, which soaks up the savory sauce. A side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad can balance the meal. For a touch of Mediterranean flair, consider serving with a glass of white wine and some crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, warm gently on the stove with a splash of chicken stock or water to keep it moist. Avoid overheating in the microwave, as it can dry out the chicken.
