Gooey Date Bars

Ingredients

  • 7 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
  • 1 c. pecans or walnuts, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and beat well.
  3. Add flour and baking powder sifted together.
  4. Add dates and nuts and mix well.
  5. Spread in a greased and floured pan and bake at 375° for 25 minutes.
  6. When cool, cut into squares and roll in powdered sugar. Will keep for weeks if packed in a tin box.
