Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Grease an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Mix the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking soda in a medium bowl.
  4. In a small bowl, mix vinegar, milk, beaten egg, and melted butter.
  5. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
