Grandma's Feather Dumplings are soft, fluffy dumplings cooked in flavorful chicken broth, perfect for comforting family meals and hearty gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 2/3 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, black pepper) together in a bowl.
  2. Add the beaten egg, melted butter, and enough milk to moisten the stiff batter.
  3. Boil chicken pieces in water or broth, then remove the chicken from the broth.
  4. Drop teaspoon-sized dollops of the dumpling batter into the boiling liquid.
  5. Cook covered without peeking for 18 minutes or until the dumplings are done.
  6. Remove chicken bones from the cooked chicken, then add the chicken back into the broth with the dumplings.
