Grandma's Fruit Snaps are crisp, spiced cookies packed with raisins and warm spices, perfect for holiday gatherings or cozy afternoons with a cup of tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon soda in flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup sorghum
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup chopped raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 beaten egg for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together, except for the beaten egg for topping.
  2. Roll the dough into a rectangle shape.
  3. Cut the dough into squares.
  4. Brush the top of each square with the beaten egg, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  5. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 375°F for 9 to 10 minutes, or until light brown.
