Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 1/4 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats, oleo, and boiling water; let stand for 20 minutes.
  2. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and beaten eggs to the oat mixture.
  3. Sift together the flour, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
