Granny Pack'S Stack Cake

- Cream together the butter and sugar until light. Stir in molasses.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Add the milk to the creamed mixture, beating after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, stir together flour, soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, beating after each addition.
- Grease and flour three round cake pans.
- Pour 1 1/3 cups of batter into each pan.
- Bake at 375°F until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and cool on a rack.
- Repeat baking with remaining batter if necessary.
- Spread applesauce between each layer and on top of the assembled cake.
- Refrigerate before serving.
