Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 large onion
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup corn oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 carrot

Instructions

  1. Shred the large head of cabbage and chop the carrot finely.
  2. In a bowl, combine sugar, celery seed, white vinegar, additional sugar, corn oil, salt, dry mustard, and pepper.
  3. Add the shredded cabbage, chopped onion, and chopped carrot to the bowl.
  4. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well coated with the dressing.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.
