Ingredients

  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped spice-flavored gumdrops

Instructions

  1. Stir together 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Heat milk, water, oil, sugar, and salt over low heat until warm, stirring to blend.
  3. Add liquid ingredients to the flour-yeast mixture and beat until smooth, about 2 minutes on medium speed of mixer.
  4. Blend in eggs and chopped gumdrops.
  5. Stir in more flour to make a stiff batter.
  6. Beat batter until elastic, about 1 minute on medium speed.
  7. Divide batter into two well-greased 1-quart baking dishes or molds.
  8. Let rise in a warm place until light and bubbly.
  9. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 to 35 minutes or until done.
  10. Cool before serving.
