Ingredients

  • 2 c. diced potatoes
  • 1/2 c. sliced carrots
  • 1/2 c. sliced celery
  • 1/4 c. diced onions
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/4 c. margarine, melted
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 c. cooked, diced ham

Instructions

  1. Cook potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and 1 teaspoon salt in 2 cups water for 15 minutes. Do not discard the water.
  2. Make a white sauce by combining melted margarine, flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper, and milk. Cook on low heat until it thickens.
  3. Add the white sauce to the cooked vegetables in the pot.
  4. Add the cooked, diced ham to the mixture and stir.
  5. Add grated cheese on top without cooking further. Keep heat low to prevent scorching and serve.
