Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup minced ham
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp Cheddar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon style mustard

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
  3. Stir in the minced ham and shredded Cheddar cheese.
  4. Combine the milk and Dijon style mustard, then stir into the mixture.
  5. Quickly mix to form a dough.
  6. Add a little extra flour if the dough is too sticky.
  7. Pat out onto a lightly floured board, making the dough 1/2-inch thick.
  8. Cut biscuits with a 2-inch cutter or small glass.
  9. Place on a lightly buttered baking sheet.
  10. Bake at 450°F for about 12 minutes until golden.
  11. Serve hot from the oven or reheat before serving.
