Ham Quiche Lorraine

Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) pastry shell
  • 1/4 tsp dry mustard
  • 4 slices crisp bacon
  • 1/4 onion, diced
  • 8 slices ham, shredded
  • 8 thin slices Swiss cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup light cream, heated
  • Nutmeg, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sprinkle crumbled bacon and diced sautéed onion on the bottom of the pastry shell.
  3. Add half of the shredded ham, then four slices of Swiss cheese.
  4. Add the remaining ham and top with the remaining cheese.
  5. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the dry mustard.
  6. Gradually add the heated light cream and beat until well combined.
  7. Pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese in the crust.
  8. Let stand for 10 minutes to allow the custard to set.
  9. Sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg on top.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes until the custard is set and golden.
