Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper (optional)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Saute minced onion, chopped green pepper (if using), and ground beef in salad oil until browned.
  2. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture. Turn into a 2-quart casserole or glass pie pan.
  3. Cover the meat with your chosen topping. Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes or until browned.
  4. Turn the casserole onto a serving plate with the topping on the bottom to serve as an upside-down pie.
