Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Mix sugar, shortening, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Blend in flour, baking soda, soda, salt, and nutmeg to form the dough.
  4. Divide the dough into 3 parts.
  5. Roll each part to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  6. Trace out hand shapes on the rolled dough.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes until lightly golden.
