Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup pumpkin
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, ginger, ground cloves) and mix well.
  2. Cream margarine or butter; gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, blending well after each addition.
  4. Mix in pumpkin until well incorporated.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  6. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 65 to 75 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
