Ingredients

  • 4 cups diced, unpared tart apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup nuts
  • 1/2 cup pitted dates, cut up

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix thoroughly, but do not beat.
  3. Pour the mixture into a greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
  4. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 40 minutes or until apples are tender.
  5. Cut into 6 or 8 squares.
  6. Serve with whipped cream.
