Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • about 28 cooked, drained jumbo shells
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 32 oz jar spaghetti sauce
  • 8 oz Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In a large skillet, thoroughly brown ground beef, chopped onion, and garlic; drain fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine cooked meat, Italian breadcrumbs, beaten egg, 1 cup spaghetti sauce, grated Parmesan cheese, and oregano.
  4. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Spread 1 cup of spaghetti sauce evenly in the bottom of a baking dish.
  6. Fill each cooked, drained jumbo shell with about 1 heaping tablespoon of the meat mixture.
  7. Arrange the filled shells over the sauce in the baking dish.
  8. Top the shells with the remaining spaghetti sauce.
  9. Cover the dish and bake for 30 minutes.
  10. Uncover, sprinkle with shredded Mozzarella cheese, and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
