Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using unsalted butter instead of margarine. If you prefer a nut-free version, simply omit the pecans or walnuts. You can also substitute dark chocolate chips for a more intense chocolate flavor. If you don't have self-rising flour, you can make your own by adding 1 3/4 teaspoons of baking powder and a pinch of salt to all-purpose flour.

Serving Suggestions

These Heavenly Cookie Bars are delicious served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. They also pair beautifully with a cup of coffee or tea for an afternoon treat.
