Ingredients

  • 1 c. buttered Crisco
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. cold black coffee
  • 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 1/4 c. broken black walnuts
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Cream the Crisco, brown sugar, and eggs together.
  2. Stir in the cold black coffee.
  3. Sift together the flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Gradually add the sifted mixture into the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in the raisins and broken black walnuts.
  6. Chill the dough for at least one hour.
  7. Drop teaspoons of dough onto a baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 400°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
