Ingredients

  • 2 c. margarine
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 4 c. chopped pecans
  • 3 Tbsp. instant coffee

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Grease the bottom of a 10-inch tube pan.
  3. Separate the eggs; beat the yolks well.
  4. Beat the whites until stiff.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, cream together margarine and brown sugar.
  6. Add beaten egg yolks, mixing well.
  7. Combine milk, vanilla, and dissolved coffee.
  8. Add alternately with the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture.
  9. Fold in egg whites and chopped pecans.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  11. Bake at 325°F for 1 1/2 hours.
  12. Let cool in the pan.
