Tips & Substitutions

For extra flavor, consider using butter instead of margarine. You can also substitute the apricot preserves with peach or pineapple preserves for a different fruit note. If you're short on time, marinating the chicken in the sauce for a few hours or overnight will enhance the flavor further. Be sure to monitor the chicken closely to avoid overcooking.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the honey roasted chicken with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh green salad for a complete meal. It pairs beautifully with Zucchini Or Squash Casserole, adding a lovely contrast to the flavors. Consider offering a light dipping sauce or yogurt dressing on the side for added richness.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover honey roasted chicken should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, place the chicken in a baking dish covered with foil and warm it in a preheated oven at 350°F until heated through, about 20-25 minutes. This method helps retain moisture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use skinless chicken for this recipe?

While skinless chicken can be used, the skin helps retain moisture and adds flavor during cooking. If you prefer skinless, consider marinating the chicken longer in the sauce to ensure it stays juicy and flavorful.

What can I substitute for Dijon mustard?

If you don't have Dijon mustard, you can use yellow mustard or whole grain mustard as alternatives. Each will impart a slightly different flavor, so choose based on your taste preference.

Is there a way to make this dish spicier?

Absolutely! You can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce for a spicy kick. Adjust the amount to your taste, keeping in mind that a little goes a long way.
