Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs and beat vigorously.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  3. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture in about three portions, alternately with milk, and beat only until smooth.
  4. Fold in blueberries gently.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
