Tips & Substitutions

For a twist, try adding chopped jalapeños or diced onions to the mashed potatoes for extra flavor. If you don’t have mashed potato flakes, you can use leftover mashed potatoes instead. The butter helps to crisp up the potato topping, so don’t skip it. For a vegetarian version, substitute frankfurters with your favorite plant-based sausage.
