Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. cooking oil
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, cocoa, and salt.
  2. Blend in oil and buttermilk until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and mix well.
  4. Gradually add boiling water, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured cake pans.
  6. Bake in a 375°F (190°C) oven for 35 minutes.
