Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup tomato soup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Cream together the shortening and sugar.
  2. Add the tomato soup and water to the creamed mixture.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients: baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, raisins, flour, ground cloves, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts.
  4. Mix all ingredients together until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased and floured tube pan.
  6. Bake in a moderate 350°F oven for 1 hour.
