Ingredients

  • 3/4 stick butter
  • 2 scoops sugar (about 3 Tbsp.)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 level tsp. baking powder
  • 1 level tsp. baking soda
  • 1 level tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 box raisins
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 2/3 c. buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Cream butter, sugar, and eggs together until well combined.
  2. Sift all dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar, salt) into a bowl.
  3. Add the sifted dry ingredients and raisins to the creamed mixture.
  4. Mix well until the dough is moist and evenly combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan or loaf tin.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
