Ingredients

  • 7 cups sifted flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 box raisins
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • scattered caraway seed

Instructions

  1. Mix the sifted flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking powder, and raisins in a large bowl.
  2. Add eggs, milk, and melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir by hand until well combined.
  3. Add caraway seed as desired and mix gently.
  4. Butter and lightly flour 3 large loaf pans.
  5. Divide the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pans.
  6. Bake at 380°F (193°C) for one hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
