Tips & Substitutions

For a nuttier flavor, consider substituting the peanuts with almonds or walnuts. You can also add a pinch of salt to enhance the sweetness of the brown sugar. If you prefer a crunchier texture, bake the granola a little longer, but keep an eye on it to avoid burning. To switch things up, add dried fruits like cranberries or apricots for added flavor, similar to the Crunchy Munchy Granola.

Serving Suggestions

This granola is perfect for breakfast or a snack. Serve it with yogurt and fresh fruit for a nutritious breakfast or enjoy it with milk as a cereal. It also pairs beautifully with recipes like Blue Bird Cake For The Birds for a delightful brunch spread. You can sprinkle it over oatmeal or smoothie bowls for added texture and flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store the cooled granola in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. If you want to keep it fresh for longer, consider refrigerating it, which can extend its shelf life. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to restore its crunchiness if it becomes soft over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this granola gluten-free?

Yes, to make Katie's Granola gluten-free, simply use certified gluten-free oats and ensure that all other ingredients, such as the wheat germ, are gluten-free. This way, you can enjoy the recipe without gluten concerns.

How can I adjust the sweetness of the granola?

If you prefer a less sweet granola, you can reduce the amount of brown sugar and honey. Alternatively, you can replace honey with maple syrup, which provides a different flavor profile while still keeping the sweetness in check.

Can I add other ingredients to the granola?

Absolutely! Feel free to customize your granola by adding seeds like pumpkin or sunflower seeds, or mixing in chocolate chips or coconut flakes for an extra treat. Just be mindful of the moisture content so that it still bakes properly.
