Lasagna With Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 pkg. onion soup mix
  • 1 can tomato sauce (small)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. lasagna noodles
  • 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • 1 can tomato paste (6 oz.)
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 lb. creamed cottage cheese (large curd)
  • 3/4 lb. Mozzarella

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in olive oil in a skillet.
  2. Stir in onion soup mix, water, tomato paste, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and oregano. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and place in cold water.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (moderate oven).
  5. Spread 2 tablespoons of meat sauce in the bottom of a 12 x 8-inch baking pan.
  6. Layer lasagna noodles lengthwise over the sauce.
  7. Add a layer of mozzarella cheese, followed by a layer of creamed cottage cheese.
  8. Spread meat sauce and sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the layers.
  9. Repeat the layering process ending with sauce and Parmesan on top.
  10. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
