Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • dash salt
  • ½ cup quick rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Prepare desired filling and set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  4. Add flour and salt, mixing until incorporated.
  5. Reserve 1/2 cup of the batter.
  6. Press the remaining batter evenly into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden.
