Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 pound raisins
  • 1 pound chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and light brown sugar together.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  3. Sift together baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour.
  4. Incorporate the flour mixture and sour cream alternately, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  5. Stir in raisins and chopped nuts.
  6. Refrigerate dough for 2 hours or overnight; grease a cookie sheet.
  7. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls or roll into balls onto the sheet.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 8 minutes, no more than that.
  9. Cool and ice with browned butter icing.
