- Line a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with foil extending 1 inch beyond the sides.
- Line the bottom and sides of the loaf pan with 18 ladyfingers.
- In a large bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and optional food coloring; mix well.
- In a small mixer bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff but not dry.
- Fold the beaten egg whites into the lemon mixture.
- Fold in the whipped cream.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
- Cover the filling with the remaining 6 ladyfingers.
- Cover and chill for 4 hours.
- Invert onto a serving platter and peel off the foil.
- Serve chilled.
