Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons salad oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa

Instructions

  1. Sift together the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the skim milk, salad oil, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped walnuts.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
  5. Mix together the brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa; sprinkle over the batter.
  6. Pour hot water over the entire batter.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 45 minutes.
